- Hack Week IV Approaches
- "Novell is once again sponsoring a Hack Week, from July 20 through July 24th. This is an opportunity for Novell’s Open Platform Solutions developers to use their Innovation Time Off and hunker down and work on the projects that catch their fancy.
- Hack Week projects can be new features, new applications, or improvements to existing services and applications. Previous Hack Weeks have generated projects like Tasque, Giver, Debian package support in the openSUSE Build Service, and many others. Hack Week is also a chance for Novell employees to work with the openSUSE Community contributors if they wish on projects that help improve openSUSE."

- Lydia Pintscher: The Way to Amarok 2.2
"We have been working for a long time on Amarok 2.0 and the whole team was relieved when we finally released it to show what we have been working on and to get feedback from a wider audience. It was a platform release and as such didn’t have all the features Amarok 1.4 had.
- Just 5 months later we released Amarok 2.1 with a lot of improvements and added features based on the valuable feedback we got for the 2.0 release. This release included a reworked Context View (the middle part that shows all the context information for your current song), an improved playlist including searching and filtering, support for bookmarks and Amarok URLs as well as an overall improved look and feel and even better Last.fm support. - First thing that has changed is that our internal only tools doesn't work anymore. So everybody has to use BuildService to send packages to the openSUSE. Even people inside. That's a good. So now even community members can see how package is developed and developers will more probably notice submitrequests.
- Second advantage even for ordinary users is that all Factory packages has to be developed in some topic project. So no more development in developers home project. Well, development can happened this way, but before it goes to the Factory, it has to go through topic project anyway. So people interested in bleeding edge packages will have easier situation. ..."
